To help do this, River West Brands recently secured $10 million in financing.
“We know that there are a significant number of past users who would love to see the brand come back … that’s been confirmed not only in our research, but by the unsolicited emails and letters we get from consumers asking us to bring back the brand they love,” stated Anne West, chief marketing officer.
According to SBB LLC, the brand still has over 80 percent awareness despite being off the market since 2004.
The relaunched products, an 18-SKU line that includes shampoos, conditioners and styling products, started hitting retail shelves March 1.
“Retail customers have also reacted favorably. They remember how successful the brand was before, and like the fact that Salon Selectives users tend to buy multiple products per purchase. Multiple purchases mean greater profit for our customers,” stated Mike O’Rourke, executive vice president of sales.
Woodridge Labs, which purchased the trademark and manufacturing rights for the brand Psssssst, the original instant-spray shampoo developed in 1967, has expanded it with a new look and coloring and volume features.
“As an alternative to the fast-paced, techno-savvy society in which we live, consumers are beginning to express a renewed interest in all things nostalgic,” Woodridge Labs stated. “Even major retailers such as Anthro-pologie and Restoration Hard-
ware have built entire businesses on modernizing the phenomenon of nostalgia.”
To help revitalize oily, dull and lifeless hair instantly, Woodridge Labs recently unveiled Psssssst Volume + Color. The new product offers the same benefits of the original formula while also enhancing color, masking roots and volu-mizing hair for women and men in between color and styling appointments. It is available in shades of blonde and brunette.
Woodridge Labs also has announced that Heavy Duty has entered the hair care segment with the launch of unisex hair care products. The line includes Heavy Duty Hard Hold Hair Gel and Heavy Duty Road Rage Spiking Glue and is expected to expand with additional products in the coming months. The products are made with hydrolyzed wheat protein.

In addition to the sponsorship, Purpose signed soap opera star and longtime Purpose user Rebecca Herbst for a second partnership year.
As part of the sponsorship of the awards, Purpose spoke to VIPs in The Backstage Creations Retreat about their skin care regimen and how the brand can help keep their skin feeling clean, refreshed and moisturized.
Fans are invited to visit the www.pur-poseskincare.com Web site to see excerpts and photographs from the exclusive one-on-ones.
Herbst, who has appeared on “General Hospital” since 1997, has been using the Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash and Moisturizer consistently since her dermatologist recommended them when she was 15 years old.
